The New School Day
The school is delighted to have welcomed pupils back to school on 7th September 2020. To ensure pupils, parents and staff safety we have established "bubbles" and will be keeping children separate. We will also have extra handwashing and cleaning routines and one way systems around the school. Anyone coming into school, such as pupils and professionals will have their details taken and kept for 21 days in case of a positive case. These details will be used by the Governments Track and Trace programme. In line with government guidance the following measures have also been put in place:
1. Staggered Starts and Finishing Times
To ensure that pupils are not gathering at gates the following start and finish times will be in place
Year R & 1 Enter KS1 gates between 8.40am -8.45am and finish at 3.20pm
Years 2, 3, 4 Enter KS2 gates at 8.30am - 8.35am and finish at 3.05pm
Years 5 & 6 Enter KS2 gates at 8.40am – 8.45am and finish at 3.20pm
We ask that only ONE adult brings/ collects children to and from school. It is important that social distancing occurs on the playground and on the way to and from school.
Children will have to make their own way into the playground. Parents will not be allowed to enter and staff are unable to take children from you.
2. PE Kits and Coats and Bags
Pupils will not be allowed to bring extra items into school apart from their lunch. On days when PE is on the curriculum we expect children to arrive in school wearing their kit and remain in it all day. Cloakrooms will be out of bounds. Any stationary items will be provided by school and these must not be shared.
If you or your child is exhibiting symptoms then please DO NOT enter the school site. You will be asked to self isolate and be tested. Children can now be tested and we will ask for proof of a negative test or a period of self isolation before you will be allowed to come back to school.
4. School Meals and packed lunches
During the school closure the kitchen was closed. It will be opening up again for meals from 7 September, but with a limited and set menu (see below). These will be booked as before. There will be just one choice and a vegetarian option. Staff will be unable to support children opening anything in packed lunches. Apart from Year R and 1, lunches will be eaten in classes to protect the bubbles and lunchtimes will be staggered to allow all children to access the outside. The large fridge will not be in use during this time.
5. Meetings / visitors and parent communication
Unfortunately we are unable to welcome visitors or parents into school. All communication will be via email or telephone call. Until further notice parent consultations will be done virtually. There will still be no assemblies, reading cafes or meet the teacher mornings. Due to the nature of the virus we are unable to continue with Home/School books and therefore this vital form of information flow will be done by email.
6. Breakfast Club
Breakfast Club will start again on 7th September. Due to Covid, there is only 1 drop off time of 7.45am at the KS2 gate. Breakfast club will take place in the hall to allow for social distancing for children of different bubbles. Regular Breakfast Club users have been contacted with regard to changes but if you would like a place at Breakfast club, please contact the office.
7. Reading Books
We will start to send Reading books home in September, but these will only be changed on a weekly basis and will have to be quarantined for 3 days before they are put back into the library.
8. Water Bottles
It is important that individual water bottles are sent in with the children. We are unable to offer spare cups or use the water fountain or water cooler. Water bottles can be refilled in the classroom as this water is drinkable.
