Watlington Community Primary School

Busy busy - Easter Holiday Work

It’s been so busy in school despite the holiday.

We've had workmen in over the last two weeks working hard to improve the condition of the building.  Doors have been repaired, water heaters fixed and all the lighting replaced with LED lights.  This will not only make the school much brighter to work in but also make savings on our electricity bill.

We’ve also done our bit to reduce our carbon footprint; by planting about 70 small tree saplings on the perimeter and near the play equipment.  The trees have come from The Woodland Trust as part of the Queens Jubilee scheme, the species used are all native English- cherry, rowan, silver birch, and hazel.  Once established I’d like to develop a forest school area in the grounds and provide some much-needed shade when sunny.  Please be careful and vigilant, they are protected with canes and spirals, but please don’t trip over them.

Redwood class have had their carpet replaced, this was long overdue and part of a rolling programme for redecoration and improvements to the classrooms.  Please can I ask Redwood pupils to look after their new carpet and wipe their feet.  If they wish, they may bring slippers or remove shoes on the carpet.
